19 Automated Testing with CA Plex, CA 2E and Worksoft Certify Many Plex and 2E developers are trying to move to an automated DevOps environment to save time and increase quality, but then find that functional UI testing is the bottleneck. CM First will present a solution to automatically test your CA Plex and CA 2E apps regardless of interface – C++, C#, Java, 5250, or web – without learning complex scripting languages and diverting resources from programming. In addition, the Worksoft Certify solution can be used to test all interfaces – including SAP, Oracle, CA 2E, Microsoft in-house or package apps, web/mobile apps, and more. The presentation will include tips and techniques for implementing automated testing from actual project experience. John Rhodes CM First Plex/2E

33 Consuming Web Services using CA 2E and IBM Tooling “Web Services” is the buzzword in the IT industry these days. Since release r8.5, CA 2E has the ability to expose the 2E business logic as a Web Service. However, it does not, yet, have the ability to “consume” external Web Services. This session will attempt to show a way forward to “consume” Web Services from within CA 2E, using the potent combination of CA 2E and IBM Tooling, thereby opening up a whole new way of interaction between the CA 2E applications and the outside world. Raghunath Daita CA Technologies 2E

37 Google like search in member data and managing complex contract data with a power pivot in a web application with CA Plex A workers union has renewed their online membership management software and replaced it with a plex based web application. The challenge was to filter members for dynamic political work based on changing criteria. The application has to support business users with google like skills without SQL to do their political lists. Further it uses and integrates SQL 2012 BI functionality for KPI dash boarding and last but not least it manages dynamic membership fee calculation based on dynamic salary criteria with a power pivot management. Olaf Flemming Axsos Plex
39 Automated Testing with CA Plex Automated testing is considered one of the cornerstones of Agile Development. Join us as we explore some of the ideas that enable the development of robust automated test scripts over Plex-generated C++ and C# applications. We will also demonstrate how these features work with QuickTest Pro and explain how the principles could be applied to other testing tool environments. Rob Layzell CA Technologies Plex
40 Localizing .NET Client Applications with CA Plex Explore ideas designed to simplify the deployment of applications that support multiple languages through the use of Resource Dictionary Assemblies. Join us as we discuss this exciting new feature and how it can have repercussions for not only natural language localization, but also on design and style layouts. Kiyoshi Terasawa CA Technologies Plex
41 CA Plex .NET Client You’ve asked, and we’ve listened! Join us for an update on the new features planned for the CA Plex Option for .NET Enterprise; many of which have come as direct feedback from customers migrating their applications from Windows C++ to .NET C#. This includes features designed to simplify the migration of your existing legacy applications (ActiveX Control Support), through to features designed to simplify the deployment of your CA Plex .NET applications (ClickOnce deployment support). Kiyoshi Terasawa CA Technologies Plex
42 More meaningful names for web service parameter fields in WSDL CA 2E has evolved, as of r8.5, to enable users to expose business logic built using CA 2E to the outside world in the form of Web Services. However, due to existing limitations in the generation of names for components in CA 2E, the names of parameters on the resulting Web Service interface are not very user friendly and easily identifiable. An idea was submitted on the Idea wall to rectify this and it had the highest number of votes. During this session, we will show you the problem in brief and importantly walk you through a Proof of Concept that has been carried out to enable us to work with names from the model definitions rather than generated names on the Web Service interface and thereby simplify Web Service client development. Raghu Daita CA Technologies 2E
43 CA 2E Development Update In this session we will explore some of the new features currently in development for possible inclusion in future releases of CA 2E. Join us as we explore the many new features we are researching for CA 2E. Roger Griffith United Heritage Plex
49 Vigor Menu-client for CA Plex Imagine if Plex developers could cross sell their solutions and share them within a common menu system. That Plex applications from different providers would have a similar look and feel. Imagine we could import solutions from each other into a modern looking client, giving the end user the experience of a whole system. The Vigor Menu System is an approach to make this, and more, possible. It has given our various applications a unified modern look with common access controls, a single runtime setup and a single desktop icon for the user to know. Asgeir Porgeirsson Applicon Plex
50 Pre-Con Training Workshop: RIA web with CA Plex, Websydian and ExtJS Model your Plex/Websydian web solution directly in Plex creating rich internet applications from pre-delivered patterns. 53 Pre-Con Training Workshop: CA Plex: Standardized integration, reuse and cost savings. Join us as we explore the technological and business benefits that can be realized by using Web Services in your business applications. CA Plex r7.0 introduced the ability to import Web Services into your application models and use them as component objects. This preconference training class aims to
explain how web services are represented in the CA Plex model and how they can be called from your CA Plex applications. Whilst this training class will use .NET as the deployment platform for the practical portion of the class, the modelling and architectural concepts discussed will surely lay the groundwork for possible future innovations in this area for other CA Plex platforms, such as Java and IBM i.
Rob Layzell and Kiyoshi Terasawa CA Plex
