CA Plex for CA 2E Developers
Hello from CM First to everyone registered for pre-conference education class TR3, CA Plex for CA 2E Developers. In this session we will teach the basics of CA Plex from a CA 2E perspective. There are many similarities between the two tools that will make the CA 2E developer feel at home, as well as many additional features such as Java/C# code generation, inheritance, RIA web application generation, more. You will first learn about CA Plex concepts, and then you will code a model based RIA application, demonstrating the process of integrating CA Plex into your existing CA 2E / IBM i environment .
You will need your own laptop. Please choose either option 1 or option 2, and please inform the instructor John Rhodes of the option you would to use.
Option 1: Install the software tooling on your Windows laptop.
Choose this option if you have the recommended hardware, and wish to install the software for further evaluation.

- Dual core processor
- 2GB Ram or more
- 5 GB free disk space
- Wireless access
- Installation Steps
- Install CA Plex 6.1. Please contact us if you would like an evaluation copy.
- Install SQL Server Express 2008 from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/express/Database/
- Install the Java JDK Java SE 6 Update 25: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
- Install Tomcat v6 application server: http://tomcat.apache.org/download-60.cgi
- Self Register at http://webclientiplus.com
Option 2: Use a pre-installed Amazon EC2/Cloud image
Choose this option if you do not have the hardware specs, or if you simply don’t want to go through the trouble of installing.

- Windows XP or greater with Windows Remote Desktop install
- Steps
- Contact support@cmfirsttech.com to provision an Amazon image for your use.
